Meow Wolf: From Santa Fe to the Multiverse
Where the Meow Wolf Story Began
Long before Meow Wolf became a national phenomenon, it was a small group of artists in Santa Fe looking for a different way to make and experience art.
Founded in 2008, Meow Wolf began as a collective of Santa Fe artists who wanted to create work outside the traditional gallery and museum system. Their early projects transformed ordinary spaces into immersive environments where visitors could wander, touch, discover, and become part of the artwork.
That experimental spirit eventually led to Meow Wolf’s first permanent home. With support from author George R.R. Martin, the collective transformed a former bowling alley on Santa Fe’s Rufina Circle into a sprawling world of secret passages, portals, installations, and stories.
In March 2016, House of Eternal Return opened its doors. The result was part art exhibition, part science-fiction mystery, and part interactive playground—and the beginning of a new chapter for both Meow Wolf and Santa Fe.
Today, Meow Wolf has five permanent exhibitions across the United States. Each has its own story, aesthetic, artists, and sense of place. Yet the DNA of that original Santa Fe experiment runs through all of them.

House of Eternal Return
The original. The one that started it all.
At House of Eternal Return, an ordinary-looking Victorian house becomes a gateway to something far stranger. The mysterious Selig family has disappeared after conducting an experiment that appears to have fractured the boundaries of time and space.
Visitors aren’t handed a traditional museum map. Instead, they explore at their own pace—opening doors, crawling through passages, discovering hidden rooms, and following clues into an ever-expanding universe.
The experience combines immersive installation art, nonlinear storytelling, and interactive environments. For anyone interested in where Meow Wolf began, this is the essential starting point.

Omega Mart
Where reality checks out.
Opened in 2021, Omega Mart takes the familiar American grocery store and sends it completely off the rails.
Inside AREA15, shoppers encounter bizarre products, corporate satire, hidden passageways, and portals leading far beyond the supermarket. The deeper you explore, the more the seemingly ordinary store reveals its strange backstory and interconnected worlds.
Omega Mart is Meow Wolf’s collision of humor, consumer culture, interactive art, and elaborate world-building. Behind the absurd products and psychedelic visuals is a sprawling mystery waiting to be uncovered.

Convergence Station
Four worlds. One impossible journey.
Convergence Station opened in 2021 and takes immersive storytelling into an enormous science-fiction universe.
The journey begins at QDOT, a fictional transportation station connecting visitors to four converged worlds. From there, explorers can venture through surreal environments including Numina, Eemia, C Street, and Ossuary.
The experience is intentionally nonlinear. You can follow the central mystery, chase individual clues, or simply wander through the extraordinary environments and artwork.
More than 110 local collaborating artists contributed to the Denver experience, giving Convergence Station a distinctly Colorado dimension within the larger Meow Wolf universe.

The Real Unreal
Where the familiar becomes fantastical.
Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, The Real Unreal opened in Grapevine in 2023.
The story begins with something that feels almost ordinary: a family and a familiar home. But as visitors venture farther into the exhibition, the boundaries between the everyday and the extraordinary begin to disappear.
Created through a major collaboration between Texas and Santa Fe-based artists, The Real Unreal is a world of hidden clues, unusual rooms, and constantly unfolding possibilities.
It captures the collaborative spirit that defined Meow Wolf’s earliest days while pushing the concept into a distinctly Texas setting.

Radio Tave
Tune in. Enter another world.
The newest of Meow Wolf’s five permanent exhibitions, Radio Tave opened in Houston in 2024.
At the heart of the experience is ETNL Radio, a community station whose signal has somehow opened a portal into another realm. Visitors move through a surreal world inspired by radio, music, and Houston’s creative culture.
Strange characters, interactive art, unexpected spaces, and an unfolding story make Radio Tave another distinctly different entry into the Meow Wolf universe.
The exhibition also reflects Meow Wolf’s commitment to collaborating with the communities where its exhibitions are built, featuring artwork and inspiration connected to Houston’s culturally rich Fifth Ward.

Meow Wolf Los Angeles
The next door to the multiverse.
Meow Wolf is preparing to bring its immersive universe to Los Angeles, where its sixth permanent exhibition will occupy a former movie theater complex.
The location’s cinematic history is central to the concept. The upcoming Los Angeles experience promises cinematic grandeur, mysterious Easter eggs, the forgotten side of Hollywood, glamorous glitz, and new connections to the wider Meow Wolf universe.
It is a fitting next chapter for a company that has always blurred the boundaries between art, storytelling, theater, film, and exploration.
